History
Launched into cigar stardom in 1837 by brothers Ramon and Antonio Allones, Ramon Allones cigars are renowned worldwide for their distinctive style. The first known brand to use vibrant lithographs on their boxes, Ramon Allones is also widely believed to be the first brand to utilize cigar bands.
Eventually, the Allones brothers sold the brand to British distributors, Hunter & Frankau. Under their leadership the brand reached its pinnacle of popularity, becoming a favorite in the UK and European markets. Over the course of 60 years, ownership changed hands multiple times until the brand found its place under the Cifuentes family. Though declining in popularity, the Cifuentes family guided steadily while the production of Ramon Allones cigars was relocated to the Partagas Factory, where they continue to be hand-rolled today. However successful the Cifuentes family was at running the brand, it was nationalized amongst many others by the Cuban government in 1960. Much like the Partagas brand, and many others, the Cifuentes family would register the brand name with Altadis S.A. where it’s also available - sans Cuban tobacco.
Much like the Allones brothers themselves, Ramon Allones cigars exude boldness and flaunt their flagrant flavors with a portfolio generally described as medium to full-bodied. Though Ramon Allones cigars aren’t considered a household name, true lovers of fine Cuban cigars often describe them as budget-friendly, high-quality cigars.
