The size is in its name. The H. Upmann Robusto Añejado is in fact a robusto vitola measuring a short 4 7/8 inches by a stout 50 ring gauge. It is said by Habanos S.A. that the cigar has been aged for between 5 and 8 years, a pretty lengthy time, which is where the second part of its name comes from (añejados meaning “aged” in Spanish). This H. Upmann cigar, the first traditional robusto in the brand’s line, has been released as part of Cuba’s portfolio of like-aged cigars.
On each cigar, you’ll notice the traditional H. Upmann band along with a secondary band that designates the cigar is in fact a part of this premium line. In fact, the cigars are even aged in their original boxes and are then opened and checked by Habanos officials. They’re then stamped with their original packaging date. Within the cigar itself, you get plenty of deep flavors hidden underneath including caramel, milk chocolate and macchiato. It is certainly on the milder side, even though it was aged for some time.
