Cohiba typically sticks to parejos when it comes to cigar shapes, but this big torpedo is one of a few exceptions from the world-famous brand. Covered in a rich, dark cover leaf, the Piramides Extra measures 6 1/4 inches by a 54 ring gauge that comes to a smooth point like a bullet. While all of these signifiers may seem to indicate a dangerously strong cigar, it’s actually a surprisingly mellow, sweet, and medium-bodied smoke.
It starts out with a lot of sweet and floral notes on the palate in a creamy light smoke that is pleasant and mellow. As it nears the middle and tend, it starts to take on earthy flavors that enrich the entire flavor profile and also ramp up the intensity. For that reason, it goes great with an aged Bourbon that has similarly mellow notes but picks up some spice as it goes down. One of the best figurados you can find anywhere.
