History
Bolivar, amongst the most iconic Cuban cigar brands, derives its name from Simon Bolivar, the renowned general who played a pivotal role in liberating Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, and Bolivia from the clutches of Spanish colonialism. With a rich history, Bolivar cigars, originally named Rocha Cigar Company, have been in production since 1901 making them one of the oldest cigar brands in existence.
In 1921, Bolivar officially came under the ownership of Menedez, Garcia y Cia, who subsequently moved operations to the Partagas Factory, where these cigars continue to be made to this day. During the Cuban Revolution, ownership would change once more to the esteemed Cifuentes family. Fleeing the political turmoil of Cuba, the Cifuentes sell the Partagas and Bolivar brands to General Cigar Company, where they are currently available.
Much like their namesake, Simon Bolivar, Bolivar cigars embody boldness, robustness, and strength. Meticulously handcrafted by expert rollers at the renowned Partagas factory, these refined Cuban cigars exemplify excellence. Although not recommended for novice smokers, Bolivar cigars have consistently received outstanding ratings of 90+ and have secured spots on the prestigious Top 25 Cigars of the Year list countless times.
Described as a captivating and full-bodied experience, Bolivar cigars offer an authentic taste of Cuban craftsmanship. Infused with pronounced flavors of coffee and earthy richness, Bolivar cigars are the ideal choice for a post-dinner indulgence. Not only are they meticulously rolled by highly skilled artisans, but they also come in a wide range of sizes, figurados, and ring gauges, catering to every occasion and preference.
